This is the INSTALL for whatami-x.y.z. 5 November 1999 "whatami" is part of Msys, the MCS Systems Administration Toolkit. For more information, see http://www.mcs.anl.gov/systems/software/ . Copyright (c) University of Chicago 1999. See the COPYRIGHT file in the distribution for details on the copyright. Installation ------------ This is a pretty small piece of code - just a shell script and a man page. We haven't built any support for installation in at this point. 1. The program is "bin/whatami" in the distribution. Just put a copy of it where you like. 2. In the docs directory is the man page - either whatami.man or whatami.html. Put that where you like. If you're interested in background details on this, see whatami-design.html in the docs/ directory. That's it. We actually put whatami in /bin/ these days, even though we usually tend to avoid putting anything into the vendor's released OS. Whatami is small and very basic, though - we use it in some build scripts and need a reliable hardcoded path. So one of the first things we do when we build a system is drop 'whatami' into /bin.
